I’m hitting the road to support the launch of We Have Never Been Woke, published October 8, 2024 by Princeton University Press.
A list of confirmed upcoming tour dates follows below, with links for all stops that have online announcements. If no link is present, but you’re interested in attending one of the listed events, shoot me a line for details.
While I’m in town, I’m open to doing media, podcasts interviews or meetups in addition to the scheduled events. Reach out to the books publicists to help arrange that.
- In North America, contact Julia Haav (Julia_Haav@press.princeton.edu)
- Stakeholders outside North America should contact Kate Farquhar-Thomson (Kate_Farquhar-Thomson@press.princeton.edu)
If logistics and funding permit, I am open to extending trips to add additional events in any location I’m currently scheduled to visit — or, if that isn’t possible, I’m happy to swing back through for another visit downstream. Past events are available at the bottom of this page — I’d be happy to revisit anywhere I’ve been (funding and logistics permitting).
If you want to hear me talk about the book, but you live somewhere I’m not currently scheduled to appear at all — let’s get something on the books! I’m open to a wide range of possibilities: big high profile events, small private gatherings; on campus or off; big cities, small towns, and everything between.
Although I’ve been travelling nonstop since the book launch, there are still several pivotal symbolic economy hubs I haven’t had a chance to speak at yet, and where I don’t have anything “on the books” for yet either. Among them: Seattle, Portland, Santa Fe, Atlanta, Huntsville, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Boulder, Denver, Miami, Philadelphia, the Twin Cities and the NC research triangle. If you are in one of these locations and you want to have me out, let’s make it happen!
Across the board, if you’d like to schedule an appearance, reach out to my booking agent Akhil Jonnalagadda (Akhil_Jonnalagadda@press.princeton.edu) ASAP. My goal is to reach as many constituencies as possible in as many places as I can. Here’s where I’m slated to appear up to now:
Upcoming U.S. Appearances
Princeton, NJ
- March 24: Princeton University + Princeton Public Library
Cambridge, MA
- March 27: Harvard University
Chautauqua, NY
- July 23: Chautauqua Institution

May – July 2025: UK, Australia and New Zealand

I’m pleased to announce that, thanks to generous support from the Open Society Foundation, the Free Speech Union and local sponsors, I’ll be touring throughout the summer in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
Currently, I am planning to be in the UK from May 27- June 9 (possibly longer, based on demand and support). Confirmed appearances so far include:
- May 28: Oxford University
- June 5-7: University of Buckingham
There are some events in London currently in development (nothing yet at LSE. Let’s change that!). I would be thrilled to add additional dates at Cambridge, Manchester, Durham, or elsewhere in the UK (Scotland, Wales, Ireland) between May 29 and June 20. Reach out to my booking agent, Akhil Jonnalagadda (Akhil_Jonnalagadda@press.princeton.edu), ASAP to arrange.
The Australia and New Zealand leg of the tour is likely to begin right after the 2025 Heterodox Academy conference in New York City. I am likely to spend at least two weeks in Australia and at least one week in New Zealand. A rough schedule:
- June 30: Perth
- July 1: Adelaide
- July 3-5: Melbourne
- July 6: Hobart
- July 8-10: Sydney
- July 11: Brisbane
- July 13- 18: New Zealand
More details about specific events, and an elaboration of stops in New Zealand, coming soon.
If you would like to schedule an event with me while I’m in the UK, Australia or New Zealand, please reach out to my booking agent, Akhil, at your earliest convenience. I would love to do as many talks as possible, and engage with as many stakeholders as I can, while I’m in the neighborhood.
If you are a journalist, editor, or academic in the UK, Australia or New Zealand who is interested in reviewing the book, interviewing me about the book, running an excerpt, or having me write an original essay, please reach out to the book’s international publicist, Kate Farquhar-Thomson (Kate_Farquhar-Thomson@press.princeton.edu), as soon as possible.
2025 Canada Appearances
To date, I only have two appearances scheduled in Canada (listed above) — both in Ontario — one on April and one in September. Let’s change that! Canada is a short trip for me, I’d be happy to do more dates in Canada or to arrange a tour through Canada (similar to my upcoming dates in the UK, Australia and New Zealand).
Those interested in bringing me over should reach out to my booking agent Akhil Jonnalagadda (Akhil_Jonnalagadda@press.princeton.edu).
Canadian academics, editors and journalists interested in covering the book or soliciting original essays or excerpts should reach out to the book’s North America publicist, Julia Haav (Julia_Haav@press.princeton.edu).
Worldwide Tour

For folks outside the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand: I would be thrilled to make an appearance wherever you happen to be as well, logistics and funding permitting. And I’m perfectly willing to do interviews, etc. with journalists around the world too (I’ve already done interviews about the book with reporters in Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Denmark and the Netherlands).
To explore the range of the possible, please reach out to my booking agent, Akhil, or the books international publicist, Kate (Kate_Farquhar-Thomson@press.princeton.edu), when you can, and let’s try to make stuff happen!
Past Stops
If you missed me while I was in the neighborhood, invite me back! I’d be delighted to return to any of the communities I’ve recently visited — to include alternative events at some of the specific universities I’ve popped into since the launch (especially for events with a different structure, for a different set of constituents, or on a different topic than last time). Just reach out to my booking agent Akhil Jonnalagadda (Akhil_Jonnalagadda@press.princeton.edu) to explore some options.
